About

I first imagined this project as a book, and then I was inspired by the ancestors to space it out in the format from my 90’s youth, as a zine.

Zines are all about community. Zines are a space to experiment with the humans in your sphere; you read them, share them, collect them, discuss them. Zines are intended to build community. As a rural queer, zines have been a connection to the larger world like how the mycelium connects the trees.

Toadman Almanak is a cosmos. There are various ways to engage and relate and the cosmos is ever growing. I imagine a zine, video interviews, and limited bespoke items curious to those inclined to appreciate the Toadman cosmos.

Together we will explore ways to get closer to the land. We will explore some of the northern european ancestral practices I have been immersed in. We will get to know the people who have called various lands home long before the people of europe came in violence and disconnection. We will get to know the spirits of place who preceded humans and share folklore to interact and explain the cosmos.

Why did my people come here? Why did your ancestors stay where they were?
When they moved what did they bring with them? What did they earn from the new land?

Who is the human behind the Toadman Almanak?

I'm Björn. I am a trans man living on lands known to be the homelands of the Muh-he-con-ne-ok people. My ancestors stole this land from the peoples native to this area over 300 years ago. I believe that healing can happen through land connection and ritual. Honoring our ancestors or blood, land, and tradition.

Unless otherwise stated, all content of the Toadman Almanak cosmos comes from Björn.

Human made.

I strive to present only human made content. I research every quote and bit of content to make sure that there are 100% humans behind everything. All errors are mine.
